About the roleAustal Cairns currently has a great opportunity for an extensively experienced Project Manager to join their expanding team in a permanent and full-time capacity.Reporting to the Operations Manager the Project Manager will lead and manage assigned projects utilising ‘Project Management Body of Knowledge’ (PMBOK) methodology. The role is accountable for all facets of the project lifecycle, ensuring each stage is managed diligently and effectively. Strong leadership, along with high-level consultation and communication, will be key in identifying constraints, pinch-points and risk that has the potential to impact on the successful delivery of the project to our clients.This key role will oversee that projects are executed utilising Austal processes and procedures, and ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality, on time and on budget. Key objectives & responsibilities include:Manage Project – Risk, Schedule, Procurement, Budget, Resourcing, Communications and StakeholdersEnsure accurate task information is documented to ensure detailed and accurate charges are billed accordingly against projects.Work closely with the planning department and scheduler to ensure that project schedules are accurately compiled, updated, and delivered.Manage budgets and ensure financial targets met or exceeded.Identify and appropriately manage any technical, safety or project personnel issues and risk.Procure project labour IAW the project resourcing requirements both internally and externally.Develop, foster, and maintain key relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.Provide clear direction to project teams to ensure daily, weekly, and critical tasks are executed by the required deadlines to the required quality standards.Manage clients and stakeholders ensuring that communications are established and maintained.Provide project specific advice to ensure future projects costings and timelines are quoted accurately.Compile, submit, negotiate, and execute any project variations.Facilitate and lead project meetings (internal and external), as well as toolbox meetings. Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:Extensive experience within a similar role, ideally within the Maritime or Defence IndustriesPossess a relevant Tertiary or Trade QualificationHold a Project Management Qualification, as well as Project Management experience, with a working knowledge of Service Contracts and Service AgreementsBe commercially astute, with significant exposure to project budgets, commercials, and cost controls.Possess outstanding communication, leadership, and people management skills, and be comfortable working with, and influencing all levels of internal and external stakeholders.Exposure to the Commercial and Defence Marine Service Industries, as well as a sound knowledge of asset management standards, systems, and processes, will be highly regarded.Be goals driven and results orientated, with an excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain and discuss technical, commercial, and contractual topics.Diligent, self-motivated, and calm under pressure, with excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines.Strategic, analytical and innovative, with solid problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box and on your feetA diligent and hardworking team-player, who leads from the front and has the ability to motivate, manage and lead. Why AustalCompetitive compensation and benefits package.Professional development and training opportunities.A supportive and dynamic work environment.Opportunities for career advancement within our growing organisation. What's on Offer?Located in CairnsPermanent Full time38 hours per weekSalary Sacrificing, Novated Leasing, Retailer discount, EAP, Insurance discounts. Our global team is guided by a universal set of values that describe the focus of our efforts.
