About the Opportunity
As the Worksite and Access Coordinator for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for overseeing day to day operations, coordinating facility operations, contractors, access equipment, and worksite services across Austal Defence shipbuilding facilities. The role is responsible for planning and managing scaffolding, access requirements, temporary services, and site infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted shipbuilding operations.

What’s Involved
- Coordinate day-to-day access, worksite setup, and support services across all Austal Defence shipbuilding projects.
- Manage scaffolding, temporary access solutions, and worksite infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted vessel construction activities.
- Coordinate temporary site services including lighting, power distribution, ventilation, extraction systems, hot work equipment, barricading, signage, and operational support equipment.
- Manage contractor engagement and performance, ensuring services are delivered in line with project requirements and contractual obligations.
- Support WHS compliance through safety inspections, incident reporting, corrective actions, emergency preparedness, and maintenance of workplace standards.
- Oversee housekeeping, waste management, building access, and security coordination for employees, contractors, and visitors across shipbuilding facilities.
- Maintain compliance documentation, permits, inspection records, and reporting while ensuring adherence to regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and deliver measurable outcomes in operational efficiency, sustainability, and environmental performance.
You’ll Need
- 10+ years experience in heavy industry (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, maritime, oil and gas, mining or similar) Including 5+ years leading and working within a multi-disciplinary facilities/maintenance/utilities team
- Proven CapEx planning and delivery, contractor management and reliability- centred maintenance
- Proficient with plant maintenance software platforms
- Proven track record in managing daily site wide scaffolding operation, Including maintenance and facilities activities .
- Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
