Training Lead

About the Opportunity

As the Training Lead for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for driving Operational Support & Training (OS&T) outcomes across a major shipbuilding program, ensuring crews are ready to safely operate and maintain mission systems across their lifecycle.

You’ll influence system design for usability and supportability, while leading the development of training programs, operating procedures, and technical documentation to support introduction into service and customer handover.

Working closely with the Strategic Shipbuilding OS&T Manager and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) team, you’ll lead a dedicated OS&T team and collaborate across disciplines to deliver practical, high-quality training and support solutions.

What's Involved

• Develop procedures, training inputs, and readiness plans through to customer handover.
• Deliver integrated training programs and materials to enable safe, effective system operation.
• Ensure alignment across design, training, and compliance, meeting audit and program requirements.
• Lead development of compliant, fit-for-purpose technical documentation.
• Track and improve training and operational performance to maintain readiness.

You'll Need

• TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
• Experience leading training delivery and coordinating instructors within complex or technical environments.
• Background in maritime, Defence, or similar operational environments.
• Experience developing training programs, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), eLearning, or simulation-based training (desirable).
• Exposure to digital training systems and development of interactive technical documentation (e.g. IETP) (desirable).
• Maritime qualifications (e.g. Master <45m Near Coastal or equivalent) (desirable).
• Understanding of training compliance and regulatory requirements (desirable).
