Trade Assistants required to assist the Piping and Mechanical Team team with the preparation of material, tooling, equipment and to carry out cleaning within a shipbuilding operation as directed by immediate Supervisor.

What’s Involved
- Participate in Confined Space Entry Sentry and Fire Sentry duties
- Assist tradespeople when required with the preparation of materials, tooling and equipment required to carry out the job.
- Carry out cleaning duties as required throughout the workshop and ships under construction
- Understand, embrace, implement and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures related to HSEQ
- Hold self and workmates accountable to HSEQ standards
- Ensuring good housekeeping is practiced
You’ll Need
Essential
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Capable of Performing work in a safe and acceptable manner
- Ability to use standard tools
- Possesses good time management skills and ability to meet targets set by the supervisor.
- Be fit and healthy
Desirable
- Forklift License
- EWP + 11m
- Work in accordance with an issued permit
- Demonstrate First Attack Fire Fighting Equipment
- 1 year Experience in Engineering or Construction industry as a trade assistant
- 1 year Experience in Confined Space Entry Sentry and First Sentry
- Hold or studying toward a cert 2 in Engineering
