The Opportunity
To be part of the leadership team supporting critical defence projects.
You will lead a dynamic, multidisciplined team in the navigation of complex operational challenges, including; taking full responsibility for delivering Maintenance, Engineering, Supply, Planning, and Operational Support Services to Navy platforms in the region.
You will maintain an efficient and effective support system, operating within CASG principles, to ensure ship availability targets are met or exceeded. With a focus on excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, you will be pivotal in stakeholder engagement and management for Austal and customers.
What’s involved
As Support Services Manager, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of key services across:
- Maintenance, engineering, logistics, warehousing, planning, scheduling, and operations
- Subcontractor and supplier management
- Australian Industry Capability (AIC) and regional development initiatives
- Technical data and Defence-supplied equipment (GFE, GFM, GFS, GFD)
- Uniformed personnel management
- Maintenance Management System and regulatory compliance
- Service delivery reporting, administration, and coordination
You'll also oversee the management and development and upkeep of essential plans and documentation, potentially including:
- Annual Regional Worklists
- Maintenance and Supply Chain Plans
- Supplies Acceptance and Deviation documentation Technical Data Schedule and List
- Survey & Quote, Efficiency Reports, and Maintenance Service Requests
You’ll need
- Demonstrated leadership in delivering support services within a complex stakeholder environment
- Experience managing support services within an Australian Defence context
- Strong initiative and self-motivation
- Sharp attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build, lead and support high-performing teams
- Deep knowledge of engineering, maintenance, and supply support systems
- Understanding of Defence Engineering statutory compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High-level analytical, reporting and presentation capabilities
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities
- Capable of working independently with sound organisational and time management skills
- Effective planning, delegation, and team motivation skills
- A commitment to lead by example in safety, quality, and ethical standards
