In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering mechanical design and drafting services across all phases of commercial vessel development—from concept through to final delivery. Austal Ships is currently seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our design team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering mechanical design and drafting services across all phases of commercial vessel development—from concept through to final delivery. What’s involved

  • Produce accurate information and documentation ensuring vessel design complies with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements
  • Leading and supervise design groups

  • Monitor task schedules and proactively track progress and upcoming deliverables.

  • Preparation of design drawings including calculations and schematics
  • Selection and requisition of Machinery

You’ll need

  • Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical or Mechatronics
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills
  • Solid understanding of production methods and the practical application of design
  • 5-10 years' experience in a similar capacity
