The Opportunity
The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for executing the procurement activities as per the established Supply Chain Process related to specific product/service categories. The Senior Procurement Officer works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of procurement activities and enhance operational efficiencies.
What’s involved
- Assess procurement requirements by liaising with stakeholders based on supplied estimates, market experience, purchase complexity, sole source consideration and purchase thresholds
- Manage sourcing activities for materials within tier 4 and provide support to Procurement Lead for tier 3
- Create purchase request package/s and comparative matrix’s in line with defined materials tiers and send to internal stakeholders for review
- Negotiate with preferred supplier against pre-determined negotiation objectives
- Issue purchase orders, award letter or subcontract paperwork in line with defined material tiers. Identify and execute freight requirements
- Manage issues with goods/services through supplier corrective action process and contribute regularly to the Supplier Risk Report
- Maintain and update daily all project Equipment Order Lists (EOL) for items within relevant section of responsibility
- Represent Supply Chain as Procurement Authority for nominated projects
- Undertake site visits with key suppliers and complete Supplier Periodic Evaluations
- Undertake regular bench marking activities to ensure Austal is securing best price for goods and services
- Achieve savings across sourcing activities annually, as set by Procurement Lead
You’ll need
Essential
- 5+ years of relevant experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent business
- Working Experience in a computerized ERP environment, preferably Pronto or IFS
Desirable
- Tertiary level qualifications in procurement, supply chain, contractual law or similar
- CIPS Qualifications desirable
