About the Opportunity
Austal Defence Australia is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Design and Engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing, reviewing and integrating complex electrical systems across our naval shipbuilding programs, ensuring all designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

What’s Involved
- Deliver detailed electrical designs for large, integrated ship systems
- Drive practical, compliant design solutions and technical decisionâmaking
- Coordinate closely with discipline leads and manage supplier interactions
- Ensure documentation is accurate, traceable and meets all audit standards
- Maintain schedule awareness and deliver quality outputs on time
- Communicate effectively across teams and provide technical support
- Champion innovation, process improvement and costâeffective design solutions
You’ll Need
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Mechatronics) or equivalent
- Basic AutoCAD skills
- Solid understanding of Production Methods
- Understanding of LV and ELV Power generation and distribution
- Knowledge of regulatory body rules and regulations
- 5-10 years' experience in a similar role
