Risk Management Lead
About the Opportunity
As the Risk Management Lead for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you will lead the organisation to develop best practice risk management capability in an empowered, decentralised model at an enterprise level. Building upon the risk management foundations that have been developed, you will drive the uplift of organisational risk management maturity to support achievement of Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) objectives across multiple projects and contracts. The role includes shaping how decision makers identify, record, report, address and minimise risk by leading, advising, reporting and co-ordinating risk management activities and information across the organisation.

What’s Involved
- Evolve the current risk management model to achieve a best practice capability using processes, technology and risk management maturity in a transformational environment.
- Empower leaders and teams in a decentralised setting to drive effective risk management, data quality and mature risk management leadership that help achieve the objectives of SSA across functional boundaries by working cohesively.
- Educate and coach teams to ensure appropriate risk management practices are proactively applied across delivery teams and operational functions to ensure risks are current, up to date and adequately reflect the risk profile of the SSA Program.
- Lead key governance forums to collaboratively report risks and issues, determine trends in risk practice and performance, at an enterprise level and individual project level.
- Develop, assure the efficacy and compliance of the risk management framework against defined practices and standards with project delivery leaders and function representatives.
You’ll Need
- Skills, qualifications and experience in contemporary risk management methodologies (including costed risk).
- Proficient leadership and communication in a decentralised risk management environment.
- Demonstrable experience in risk management process optimisation, leading an organisation through risk management capability and behavioural maturity.
- Minimum 5 years of designing and embedding risk management processes, tools and practices for front line staff, management and organisational leaders.
