About the Opportunity

This position provides for the Management of Quality Activities on major projects undertaken within the Australian shipbuilding business. Responsible for ensuring that project Quality obligations are met and for ensuring that project Quality activity is aligned to both program and functional objectives and the wider objectives of the Australia business. The role provides accountability that project policies, plans and procedures are managed effectively and that the products and or services that the project delivers meet the required standards of quality and compliance.

What’s Involved

• Provide Quality Leadership on major SSA projects.
• Daily management and planning of the Project Quality Assurance team activities. Working with a team of Quality Advisors to deliver Project Quality outcomes.
• Assuring through Audit and Surveillance activities that Subcontractors are meeting specified Project Quality requirements.
• Monitoring and analysis of Subcontractor supplied Objective Quality Evidence.
• Manage, review and monitor:
  o    Project compliance to Quality Management System requirements
  o    Product non-conformance in accordance with prescribed Shipbuilding standards.
• Identifying, assessing, and mitigating Project Quality risks.
• Continuously review and improve Project Quality processes to improve business operations and the quality of supplied products.
• Provide support and guidance to assigned Project and Quality teams to deliver Austal Quality Assurance best practice – within assigned areas of responsibility.

You’ll Need

• Diploma or higher qualification in a Quality Assurance, Business Management, Engineering, or other related discipline
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Quality Management role
• Lead auditor training (Nationally Accredited)

Desirable

• Project Management experience and or Project Management Qualification
• Qualification in Lean Manufacturing/TQM or Six Sigma
• Recognised training qualification in root cause analysis
