About the Opportunity
The Operating Support & Training (OS&T) Lead is a key leader within the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Team. The OS&T Lead drives Operating and Training outcomes for a shipbuilding program, influencing design for supportability and ensuring the crew is fully prepared to operate, and maintain, their Mission System through its introduction to service (IIS) through to its transfer to the customer’s custody. The OS&T Lead provides operational leadership in the development and integration of the Mission System Operating and Maintenance procedures, training curriculum, and associated Technical Data within the ILS framework. The OS&T Lead reports to the Strategic Shipbuilding Operating Support & Training Manager, supports the assigned ILS Lead, is supported by a ship-specific OS&T Team and collaborates closely with the other ILS disciplines.

What’s Involved
- Mission System (Ship) Operating Support management: Conduct Mission System Operating Support task analysis to shape operating procedures, workforce planning, and training design, ensuring all operating procedures and user manuals are wellâdocumented, traceable, and fully integrated with ILS Program Elements.
- Mission System (Ship) Training Support management: Ensure Mission System training is fully integrated with operating, maintenance, and supply support, ensuring operator and maintainer training artefacts are complete, current, and approved, and the training program is fitâforâpurpose for safe, compliant system operation.
- Integrated Logistics Support Management and assurance: Deliver complete, evidenceâbased Integrated Support Plan (ISP) inputs; coordinate analysis and training design with ILS, Program Management, Engineering, and V&V; and maintain compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Data development leadership: Coordinate Operating and Training support Technical Data development, ensuring all technical data is traceable, compliant, fitâforâpurpose, and fully configurationâmanaged.
- Operating and Training Performance & Readiness measurement: Evaluate and report on operating procedures and training, ensuring continuous improvement actions are prioritised and implemented.
You’ll Need
Essential
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Baseline Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
- TAE 40116 or 40122 CERT IV in Training and Assessment (equivalent or higher).
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing a team of instructors and coordinating training activities.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maritime training and assessment, such as Officer of the Watch (OOW), Deck operations, or Integrating Rating roles
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Defence training and assessment.
- Experience with Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) including experience in designing, developing, and implementing training programs and curricula.
- Familiarity with Integrated Logistic Support frameworks, including Task Analysis, Training and Manpower elements.
- Experience in authoring technical documents such as operating procedures / user manuals.
Desirable
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), E-Learning Development and or Simulation-based Training.
- Experience with digital training systems and authoring Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP).
- Have achieved or be currently working towards Master less than 45 metres Near Coastal or higher (AMSA endorsed) or equivalent.
- Experience in Training Regulatory compliance management.
