About the Opportunity

As a Mechanical Engineer you are responsible to provide and support the Design and Drafting of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget within the Austal Defense Australia (ADA) and is expected to provide output which satisfies the standards of Austal, the client and regulatory authorities.

What’s Involved

• Produce accurate information and documentation, ensuring vessel design complies with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Manage design inputs from third parties such as drawings, certifications, and manuals.
• Monitor task schedules and proactively track progress and upcoming deliverables.
• Seek and implement improvements in design processes and product quality.
• Design exhaust systems, propulsion systems, domestic systems, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, and fire systems.
• Prepare design drawings, including calculations and schematics.
• Select and requisition machinery.

You’ll Need

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics)
• AutoCAD skills
• Understanding of the Production methods and practical application of design
• Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
