About the OpportunityAs the Material Planner for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all materials and components required for production are available on time as per the schedule, in the correct quantities, and meet quality and specification standards. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate material data and ensuring that material requirements are correctly represented in the ERP system to enable efficient procurement and production planning. The role focuses on translating the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) into a Production Bill of Materials (PBOM), validating material accuracy from both input and output perspectives across work orders and shop orders. Develop and maintain material plans aligned with project schedules and budgets. Monitor material availability, usage, and inventory to support production and minimise shortages or waste. Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Supply Chain to manage design changes, obsolescence, and material risks. Support logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of materials for production. Ensure materials comply with marine, Defence, and project quality and safety requirements. Liaise between Engineering and Procurement to coordinate custom components and resolve material issues. You’ll Need 1 – 3+ years of experience in materials planning or procurement Strong knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and material planning. Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, including IFS and SAP. Skilled in material forecasting, scheduling, and inventory planning. Able to interpret Bills of Materials and engineering drawings. Knowledge of shipbuilding materials, marine standards, and regulations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills. Effective communicator with engineering, procurement, logistics, and production teams.
