Facilities Systems Engineer
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Facilities System Engineer to support the design, delivery, and ongoing performance of shipyard infrastructure at the Henderson Shipbuilding Precinct.
Working within the Infrastructure & Capability team, you’ll provide practical engineering support across a range of systems ensuring facilities and equipment are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose to support major Defence shipbuilding programs.

What’s Involved
- Support the design, integration, and delivery of shipyard infrastructure systems (power, compressed air, water, HVAC, fire systems)
- Assist with the specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of industrial machinery (cutting, welding, lifting, surface treatment)
- Ensure systems meet Defence, regulatory, and safety standards
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and sustainability initiatives
- Provide technical support across infrastructure and facility projects
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or similar)
- 5+ years’ experience in industrial or infrastructure environments (e.g. shipbuilding, manufacturing, heavy industry, Defence)
- Experience with engineering design tools (e.g. CAD, SolidWorks, CATIA)
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical capability
- Knowledge of industrial systems, machinery, and controls
- Understanding of relevant standards, codes, and safety requirements
- Systems integration or multidisciplinary project experience
- Project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of reliability, asset management, or safety engineering
- Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
