The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an Engineer to join our Trinidad & Tobago team in the Port of Spain. Reporting directly to the General Manager Trinidad and Tobago, the CCPV Engineer will be a key point of contact for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, and the in country Austal team and sub-contractors, for the planning and management of maintenance activities for the Cape Class Patrol Vessels (CCPV).
What’s Involved
Provide technical leadership and support to internal teams, customer and supply chain, including all technical information relating to the operation, maintenance and repair of the CCPV’s for stakeholders is sourced and collated.
- Provide practical operation and maintenance training to stakeholders
- Monitor, manage and support the technical integrity and compliance of the CCPV’s.
- Actively support and where applicable lead trouble shooting activities;
- Monitor preventative and corrective maintenance execution to ensure compliance with technical specification and relevant hold points;
- Actively monitor CMMS maintenance status and records, identifying and communicating deficiencies where applicable;
- Reviewing survey reports and defects for the development of remediation plans and prioritisation;
- Engagement with DNV class surveyors to ensure class requirements are met, maintained, and documented at all times;
- On a case-by-case basis clarify and confirm the DNV Class Surveyor’s interpretation of the class rules/surveys/inspections and ensure all requirements will be met through the contracted scope, identifying, and advising deficiencies;
- Support fluid analysis program through coordination of TTCG sample collection and contractor analysis;
- Review fluid analysis reports to identify trends or issues;
- Develop and maintain the technical risk register;
- Development of repair plans within technical delegation and or making repair plan recommendations to Australian based engineering team;
- Lead and develop a strong HSEQ culture in compliance with applicable process, policies and statutory requirements.
You’ll Need
- A relevant or aligned Engineering, Maintenance or Trade qualification;
- Minimum 3 years experience maintenance or project engineering experience;
- Understanding of standards, codes and regulatory frameworks for the design and maintenance of naval and commercial vessels;
- Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of engineering testing and analysis processes and techniques;
- A solid working knowledge and understanding of safety management practices including Working in Confined Spaces, Working at Heights, Working with Energised Systems, Isolations etc;
- Excellent time-management, prioritising and organisational skills;
- The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team;
- Be diligent, self-motivated and calm under pressure; and
- A high level of competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & Word, as well as standard engineering software.
