What’s Involved Develop and coordinate vessel build plans, production strategies, project schedules, resource allocation, and site planning to support efficient project delivery. Coordinate cross-functional activities with Design, Production Control, Supply Chain, Supervisors, and Contractors to ensure production readiness and timely delivery of materials, information, equipment, and resources. Monitor production progress, workflow, resource utilisation, material availability, and schedule performance, proactively managing risks, constraints, and project issues. Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with HSEQ requirements, maintaining workplace standards, and overseeing housekeeping responsibilities. Communicate effectively with production teams through toolbox meetings, regular engagement, and coordination of interdepartmental work orders and site support services. Coach, mentor, and support the development of Supervisors and production personnel while monitoring performance and ensuring work is completed to specification and inspection requirements. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, implement corrective actions, and provide accurate reporting on production and project performance.You’ll Need Essential RequirementsRelevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience, with a minimum of three years' experience in a Production Supervisor or similar leadership role. Demonstrated leadership capability with strong communication, interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills. Proven planning, scheduling, organisational, and resource management skills to coordinate complex production activities and meet project deadlines. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management abilities. Sound knowledge of shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing environments, including organisational procedures, business systems, and HSEQ requirements. Experience managing production performance, cost controls, and multiple competing priorities while delivering quality outcomes. High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and production management systems such as IFS, Primavera, BMS, and CAD/Navisworks.Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance Desirable requirements Front Line Management qualification. Senior First Aid qualification. Advanced knowledge of Austal production systems and vessel construction. Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity and efficiency.
