With an ambitious growth strategy a key driver for Austal in 2021, we are looking for a driven, high-level Business Development Lead for our Indo-pacific region, to join our Sales & Marketing Department.
Reporting to the VP Sales, this key senior sales role will deliver leadership and management of business growth for all Defence and Government and Commercial related opportunities and engagement activity within Indo-pacific region; which will include responsibility and accountability for strategy, business development, marketing and sales, as well as ensuring that the business growth strategy is coordinated effectively and aligned seamlessly to that of the Austal Group Strategy.
Key objectives & Responsibilities include:
- Leading the Business Development process and capture of opportunities across the Indo-Pac region.
- Development and execution of the overarching Campaign Strategy and growth of the region, with a particular focus on the Defence and Government market segment.
- Identify, develop and lead key opportunities within the market segments via individual Capture Plans.
- Develop innovative customer proposals and solutions that promote Austal capabilities and products to our client base.
- Proactively pursue Naval business opportunities, highlighting Austal’s capabilities and products.
- Lead the development of all proposals ensuring an integrated approach is adopted in developing and executing capture plans.
- Generate Sales revenue and EBIT in line with Austal’s strategy and revenue forecasts.
- Ensure Sales and Business Development proposals are managed in accordance with Austal’s Business Winning Gate process.
- Contribute to companywide product, systems and sustainment developments, ensuring alignment with customer needs and requirements.
- Liaise with Regional Offices and the wider Austal business to maintain a consistent approach for the company brand.
- Attend, support and present the Austal brand at relevant conferences and exhibitions.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Qualifications in a relevant Sales / Marketing discipline will be highly regarded
- Experience in the defence sales environment, including dealing with and selling B2G and G2G within the region.
- A demonstrated and proven, high-level sales performance background, with the innate ability to identify, lead and close sales, as well as influence customer thinking at the most senior levels (Government, ADF, Industry etc), and position Austal to win
- A proven ability to develop and deliver business growth strategy and win high-value, technically complex programs
- Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal and people management skills, and be comfortable working with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, as well as presenting to and interacting with large groups and audiences
- Strategic, analytical and innovative, with solid problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box and on your feet
- Be commercially astute, results orientated, and systematic in your approach, with an excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain and negotiate complex technical, commercial and contractual topics
- An intimate understanding of the Shipbuilding and Sustainment industry is essential
- Be diligent, self-motivated and calm under pressure, with excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
- An exceptional, service-orientated team player with a "can do" attitude, and the ability to motivate, manage and lead
