The Opportunity
The Contracts Manager is the primary contract performance assurance provider to the Austal ISS business unit. The role ensures adequate business rules, processes and systems are in place, manages identified risks and controls and maximises financial opportunities within the boundaries of contractual T&C’s across all delivery functions to deliver best practice contract performance.
What’s involved
- Drive governance, assurance, and best practices across all contracts.
- Develop and maintain a contract reporting framework and dashboards.
- Lead continuous improvement by collaborating with stakeholders to implement change initiatives and innovative business solutions that improve productivity and efficiency for Austal and our customers.
- Manage individual In-Service Support Contract Administrator direct reports.
- Sustain and develop relationships with key Contract Stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure all remain appropriately apprised of Contract status.
- Manage currency of Contractual artefacts and associated Contractual communication in line with Contracted obligations, especially with regard to ASDEFCON policy and procedure,
- Maintain close liaison with Austal Functional Departments to ensure appropriate governance and oversight is maintained, as well as potential Commercial opportunities and any improvements and/or 'better practice' possibilities are leveraged, where appropriate.
- Manage and maintain a relevant professional network to ensure currency with industry best practice.
You’ll need
Essential
- Australian Citizenship (required to obtain Baseline Security Clearance).
- Proven understanding of contract management principles and practices.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Law, or Commerce.
- Contract Management Qualification (e.g., IACCM, CIPS, or equivalent).
- Strong experience in negotiation and conflict resolution, with well-developed influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership while building and maintaining strong working relationships across teams and departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Hold a valid Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
Desirable
- Thorough understanding of CASG (Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group) contract mechanisms.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain.
- Experience in supply chain management.
- Proven understanding of project management principles.
