About the Opportunity
The Business Analyst role exists to understand, design and improve the processes and procedures that underpin the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). By analysing current ways of working, identifying improvement opportunities, and translating business needs into clear process requirements, supporting consistent, efficient, and scalable operations. The position enables better decisionâmaking by providing structured insights and ensuring processes align with SSA strategic objectives. This role reports to the Operational Excellence Services Lead.

What’s Involved
Drive strategic alignment of business processes by ensuring that process design and improvement initiatives support SSA strategic objectives, clearly articulating stakeholder needs and translating them into prioritised, valueâdriven process outcomes.
- Enable effective requirements management, through the elicitation, validation, and management of high-quality business and functional requirements that lead to successful delivery of fit-for-purpose digital products and services, minimising rework and enhancing user satisfaction.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication by building and maintaining strong relationships across the SSA Enterprise, ensuring shared understanding of process needs, timely communication, and stakeholder buyâin throughout the process development and improvement lifecycle.
- Support data-informed decision making, by leveraging data analysis and insights to support business cases, evaluate solution performance, and inform decision-making that improves outcomes and reduces risk.
- Ensure quality and traceability throughout the delivery lifecycle by maintaining traceability of requirements through design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring delivered solutions meet agreed specifications and SSA business needs with minimal defects.
You’ll Need
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience (typically 3â5+ years) as a Business Analyst in digital, IT, or transformation environments, with a strong track record of successful project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements, including user stories, use cases, and process maps.
- Experience with tools and technologies such as SQL, cloud platforms (Azure), and data visualisation tools (Power BI)
- Familiarity with data science and AI workflows (e.g. model development, deployment, governance)
- Analytical Thinking, a strong ability to analyse data, systems, and processes to find optimal solutions.
- Understanding of digital technologies and trends, including customer-facing platforms, automation, and integration solutions.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
- Experience in supporting User Acceptance Training (UAT) and ensuring traceability from requirements through to delivered outcomes.
