As the Assistant Project Manager for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you’ll be responsible for assisting the Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of vessel construction and associated project outcomes. Supporting the coordination, integration, and performance of project activities across cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction requirements.

What’s Involved
- Support the Deputy Project Manager and Ship Manager to deliver project outcomes aligned to cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction targets.
- Assist in coordinating project activities to ensure alignment between project plans and on-vessel construction execution.
- Provide timely and accurate project information (schedules, priorities, deliverables) to support construction teams.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the project master schedule aligned with vessel construction milestones.
- Support project controls processes, including cost tracking, scheduling, risk management, reporting, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination across engineering, supply chain, production, and support functions.
- Assist in managing project variations, change proposals, and governance reporting, while monitoring risks and escalating issues as required.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, represent the Deputy Project Manager when required, and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
You’ll Need
- 12+ months experience in Project Management or Project Coordination
- 12+ months experience in Defence, shipbuilding, construction, or a similar project environment
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Competent using Microsoft
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capability
- Understanding of project management principles, including scheduling
- Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
